Meet Scott
When he was chosen for the U.S. Ryder Cup team in the fall of 2006, golfer Scott Verplank was called "the ultimate grinder" for his never-quit attitude. Scott, 44, attributes much of his pluck to living with type 1 diabetes for more than 30 years.
"Attitude is everything," he says from his home in Edmond, Oklahoma. "When you get diagnosed, it's like being run over by a bus. You've got to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and look for ways to make yourself feel better and normal."
