Stephen Furst: Laughter Is the Best Medicine

You might recognize Stephen Furst as the bumbling fraternity pledge Flounder from National Lampoon's Animal House, but behind that goofball grin is a dedicated champion for diabetes education and research.

Meet Stephen

Actor Stephen Furst's fun-loving attitude has helped him face countless hurdles, including the transition from a 320-pound man with out-of-control type 2 diabetes to a lean, successful director, producer, and author. Having just received a long-awaited kidney transplant, Stephen shares how his sense of humor has gotten him through some of life's rough spots.

"Humor helps people all the time," Stephen says from his home in Los Angeles. "It helps you through everyday-life problems, no matter how serious the subject."
