Welcome
Got diabetes?
Type 1, type 2?
You're my type!
Being a person with diabetes (PWD) means a bunch of brain cells are devoted to taking care of yourself -- or at least thinking about it. That's why this Web site exists.
Today I rolled out of bed and wondered if I'd see a lovely 98 or a less-lovely 146 on my blood glucose meter. I checked my blood glucose, calculated my breakfast insulin, and pushed the buttons on my insulin pump.
A bit later I measured 1 tablespoon of peanut butter for my whole wheat waffle, reminded myself to check my blood glucose again at 9:27 a.m. (two hours after my first bite of breakfast), and counted the number of carb servings in my sack lunch (3-1/2 total).
On my way to work, I stopped for a diet soda and was delighted to see that the store was raising money for an upcoming diabetes walk. For $1, I could support diabetes research. Or less altruistically, I could use the $1 to buy this PWD some sugar-free gum to chew instead of mindlessly snacking. See, I'm always thinking -- about how you and I can live life on our terms while controlling our diabetes!
Diabetic Living has an important mission: to give us PWDs (and the people who love and care for us) the information we need to make the best choices for our health -- without having to think too hard. Here are just a few of the helpful features on the site:
- Checkup Checklist. You needn't burden your brain with remembering target numbers for blood glucose and cholesterol -- they're noted on our handy checklist. Take it to your next doctor's appointment and make sure you're getting the care you deserve.
- Calculating Carbs? We've counted the carbs, calories, and more in every recipe for you. We also list the number of servings and the serving size so it's easier for you to dish the right amount onto your plate.
- Real-Life Inspiration. When diabetes gets you down, know the sun will shine again -- the PWDs featured all over this site show us anything is possible.
I'm glad you're joining me in taking positive steps to care for your diabetes or for someone you love who has it. You're in my thoughts every day.
I'd love to hear about your diabetes successes. See the links below for my contact information.

I sent check #1239 for the amount $25.97. I get an invoice thanking me for my two year subscription and asking for payment of $20.77. I don't want a bonus year, I don't want newsletters, I just want what I paid for. Wake up DLV, Sherry Jones DLV1283734638/1#
