Taking Care of Your Feet

Q: How should I take care of my feet?

A: During nice weather, it's tempting to walk barefoot around the house or yard or at the beach or pool. Sorry -- but the complications you may experience aren't worth the few moments of foot freedom.

To take good care of your feet:

  • wear well-fitting, enclosed-toe shoes indoors and out

  • wash your feet daily with mild soap and water, then pat dry

Check for changes in:

  • color

  • blisters

  • ulcers

  • calluses

  • dry skin

  • cuts

  • sores

Call your health-care provider if you see any problems developing.
