Tips to Lower Blood Sugar

Good blood glucose control is vital to diabetes care. Studies have shown that good control can prevent or delay the onset of complications. Here's how you can control and reduce your blood sugar.

Tips to Lower Blood Pressure

Stick to a Healthful Meal Plan

Following a healthful meal plan is one of the most important measures you can take to keep your blood glucose under control. In years past, people with diabetes were expected to follow a strict diet that had little regard for individual likes or dislikes. Today, diabetes experts realize that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn't work and isn't necessary.

Work with your dietitian to design a meal plan that reflects your own needs and preferences. Your plan should:

  • Be nutritionally balanced to include carbohydrates, protein, and fat, as well as vitamins, minerals, and fiber.
  • Include fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
  • Reduce the amount of saturated fat and cholesterol you eat.
  • Minimize the amount of salt and sodium you eat.
  • Help you maintain or achieve an ideal weight.
  • Include foods that you enjoy.

Learn the basics of a diabetes meal plan.

here's one for everyone; this morning got up check sugar level 188; 8:00am had coffee and peanutbutter crackers; took med., took correction shot; @ 9:00am sugar level 310; took 5 more units to correct the highs;10:19am sugar level 245 -took another correction shot; now at 2:00pm sugar level dropped to 54; so now I have to eat something to bring it up.. It seems like you have to check your blood sugar alot to keep up with it. Stress I have found can make sugar level go up.

I find my suger level goes right down when I have Protein with every meal. Not a lot eg: 2egg =breakfast. 2 slices of Salmon and salad = lunch 2 drumsticks with stirfry =dinner then in between snacks 6-10 Almonds/or Walnuts or 2 sticks of celery and peanut paste. Try it for 1 day.

Hood's Calorie Countdown is superb. It tastes like milk, because it is milk. It just has been made with splenda rather than sugar. The chocolate has a different texture than the fat free and 2% milk. It has a thickness to it like a milkshake. Hood's is good to use if you are making sugar-free pudding too since it is lower in carbs than regular milk and will maintain the consistency of the pudding.

Why is it that if I check my blood sugar 3 times within a minute, I get 3 different results? Doesn't matter if they are all in the same finger, different fingers or even hands?
