Diabetes Symptom: Increased Hunger and Weight Loss
How It Feels
"I wasn't paying attention to myself but knew I wasn't feeling my best. When my little boy and I came home from the hospital, I noticed that I was tired, had blurry vision, and I had lost 15 pounds in only three months ? all while eating hospital food. Red flag for sure!"

"I was eating and losing weight. I seemed to be thirsty more often."
Amy, type 2 since 1993
Madison, Wisconsin
"I lost a lot of weight very rapidly. It was quite scary because the doctors did not know what was wrong for quite a while."
Carla, type 2 since 2006
Tulalip, Washington
"In 1999, I was working on two of my children's weddings. At first I thought the fatigue and hunger was related to that. Then I realized, I was drinking a LOT of fluids and was constantly hungry."
Carole, type 2 since 1999
Sacramento, California
I usually have a much higher FASTING blood glucose in the morning(around 170) than during the day.Why is that. If I eat the right foods and no more than 1200 cal per day I can keep my count around 130 but I am overweight(25 pounds) and as I lose the better the count ..I take one medication each day .If I eat more than 1200 calories my blood glucose goes up and stays up all day
7/16/2010 10:11:00 AM Report AbuseIf I only had not taken that antibiotic I would not be in this mess now. It's summer in Texas & it's HOT. There's days I don't feel like eating right. Just a salad is fine or fruit. I work 3 jobs and have no time to "eat right" or do meal prep. 1 more added stress! Obama says we have to buy insurance. Can't make it on this salary. If I buy the insurance it is sure fire way to die. If you don't you'll be taxed. Sounds like the devil huh...what do we do?

5/4/2010 10:57:51 AM Report AbuseI have a friend who was told he was borderline diabetic. He decided to start a new program to loose a little weight and hopefully get it under control. He did not have any symptoms at all. Just went in for blood work related to a digestive issue and found he was borderline. He is pro-active though and hopefully it will not become a bigger problem. Info for the program he is on is located here. www.getstarted.tsfl.com

That way you will develop an understanding of how your body reacts and the best ways for you to control things.

3/20/2010 07:47:51 PM Report AbuseI was on four types of medication for my type 2 Diabetes when I moved from UK to The Philippines. When out shopping in the mall I felt so tired and dizzy, and had to lie down instantly as it felt I would pass out. My wife took me to a Filipino doctor who examined me and instructed me that I should come off all prescribed UK medication immediately. This I did and almost instantly the dizziness and tiredness vanished. I watch what I eat but now feel fantastic every day.
3/16/2010 09:34:43 PM Report AbuseI don't know if I'm diabetic yet. I went to Rheumatology for other reasons and my HGB A1C came back at 6.1. I read that >5.5 - 6 meant elevated glucose, and >6 = a diagnosis of early DM. I can't get in to see Endocrine until March, so I'm going to ask my PCP to run another HGB A1c as well as fasting bld sugar, Glucose tolerance, and whatever else he can think of. My Grandfather has ins dep DM and died blind and with a BTK amp. That won't be me. -Michelle, 47 yo - Tucson AZ
